Target group:
Persons aged 18 years and over, for protection against Chikungunya virus.

There are no official Danish recommendations for vaccination.

The most important method of preventing chikungunya disease is to avoid mosquito bites, which is why the use of mosquito repellent and covering clothing is recommended when traveling in endemic areas, regardless of whether you are vaccinated or not.

Vaccination dose:
Ixchiq is administered as a single dose.

Protection duration:
Based on available data on time from vaccination to protection, vaccination should be given at least 28 days before traveling to an area at risk of infection. There is evidence of continued protection for up to 2 years after vaccination in 97% of vaccinated individuals.
