Target group:
Part of the Danish childhood vaccination program.
In addition, travelers to certain countries may be required or recommended to be vaccinated against polio.
Sewer workers who have not previously been vaccinated against polio or cannot provide documentation can be vaccinated with Imovax Polio.
Vaccination dose:
Adults and children over 2 months: Primary vaccination consists of two doses given 1-2 months apart. A third dose is given 6-12 months after the second dose. Thereafter, you are protected for 5 years.
Duration of protection:
After primary vaccination, protection against polio lasts for at least 5 years, after which a booster vaccination is given. After polio revaccination, usually at 5 years of age, protection is very long lasting, possibly lifelong.
Before traveling to polio risk areas, at least 2 basic vaccines should be given. In addition, some countries may require additional polio vaccinations.
