Pneumovax
Target group:
Children over 2 years of age and adults at increased risk of frequent or severe pneumococcal infections, including people without a spleen.
The vaccine is used to prevent diseases caused by infection with pneumococcal bacteria, including sepsis and meningitis. There is also a preventive effect against pneumococcal pneumonia.
Vaccination dose:
Basic vaccination consists of one dose. In case of continued risk, and where Pneumovax has been chosen, revaccination is recommended after 6 years.
Protection duration:
For people with normal immune systems, revaccination can be done after every 6 years without prior antibody testing.
