Zoster vaccine
Shingrix
Target group:
People aged 50 and over who have had chickenpox and are therefore at risk of shingles. People who have had herpes zoster once or more can also be vaccinated.
Vaccination dose:
The primary vaccination program consists of two doses with a recommended interval of 2 months. It is recommended that both doses are given within 6 months.
Protection duration:
After vaccination, antibodies are formed that protect against herpes zoster outbreaks.
Therefore, it is not clear whether there is a need for booster doses after the primary vaccination program.
